Hitachi chose Tilburg-based Hovers Constructie NV as the exclusive provider of Hitachi construction equipment throughout the Benelux in 1968. On April 1, 1972, HCM established HCME as the first foreign branch in order to continue serving existing clientele. As a result, in April 2000, HMCE opened a new component distribution centre in Oosterhout, allowing it to take over exclusive distribution of Euclid dump truck parts. Hitachi and Fiat declared the end of their joint venture in March 2001.
